Euring Prof. Dave Cooper announced as a vice president of CIBSE.
Dave Cooper, CEO of LECS UK, independent engineer consulting firm specialising in VT, has been on the board of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) since 2020 and has been a long-standing contributor to CIBSE’s Guide D among other CIBSE publications.
Officially taking office on June 13, 2023, Dave Cooper said: “I am delighted to take up a position of Vice President of CIBSE. I have been a keen member of the body for over 30 years and look forward to helping to deliver CIBSE’s goals for 2023 and beyond.”
CIBSE President, Adrian Catchpole, said: “As CIBSE President, I am delighted to have the support of such a strong team of VPs. I have worked alongside Dave in various capacities for CIBSE and his knowledge, leadership, and expertise are always spot on. I am very much looking forward to working with him more closely going forward.”
Dave continues to enjoy a long career spanning more than 40 years as a consulting engineer and expert witness in his specialist area of vertical transportation. This expertise has led him to be a key expert witness in numerous legal cases in the area of risk, accidents and injury.
In his capacity as CEO of independent engineering consultants, LECS UK, he is a key advisor to Governments, including the UK’s Government’s Department for Transport on major vertical transportation projects. These include London’s only public cable car across the Thames and the new Luton DART. He has also advised on the US$40 million renovation of the Armenian Marriott Hotel, Yerevan as well as the development of Queensway Quay, Gibraltar.
Dave is as regular international speaker at CIBSE conferences, author of key books on vertical transportation including accidents and litigation within the field, and retains a keen interest in research in his position as visiting professor at the University of Northampton.
He has won an array of awards and honours including CIBSE’s Silver Medal for services to the Institution in 2013 as well as a further commendation in 2021 for his contribution to a series of Covid-19 guidance published by the institute. Dave is also a fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology
