Project Description
LECS UK was appointed independent consulting engineers for the VT element of the new Moncler flagship store on 43-44 New Bond Street, London. The store, that opened at the end of 2024, is 540 square meters of selling space across three levels, with a passenger lift servicing all four floors of the building.
LECS UK’s expertise was called in at the beginning of the Moncler project. Working in collaboration with the design team, LECS UK, led by consulting engineer, Lee Dean, provided complete project management from concept to commissioning to include overseeing the planning, procurement and construction programme.
LECS UK advised and then developed the specification for a new traction MRL lift along with high-end bespoke finishes.
Lee Dean said: “Working on listed buildings often brings unique challenges and this project was no different. Following initial surveys and consultation we were aware of limited space and headroom for a new lift.
“However, our team is very experienced in developing solutions and by adding additional safety features to the lift and having a successful derogation being awarded for the design, this project is another example of LECS UK’s solution-focussed expertise. The outcome achieved a flawless result for the new Moncler store.”
Designed and constructed to the highest international standards for energy efficiency and environmental impact, Moncler, New Bond Street, is currently in the process of obtaining the LEED certification, one of the most recognized environmental building rating systems.
LECS UK’s team has worked on numerous flagship stores on New Bond Street, London. Other neighbouring projects include a spectacular circular glass lift in the Loewe flagship store, a designer lift at Gucci and a uniquely bespoke Parisian-style retro lift at One Sloane hotel, London.
