LECS UK is proud to share the details of an impressive installation in West Village Leeds. Part of the Bruntwood SciTech portfolio, the building had a remarkable transformation in 2023 and now the lift system also required a complete overhaul. Located in the heart of Leeds, West Village was experiencing a growing customer base, and the lifts needed to accommodate this increase in lift traffic within the building.
The team at LECS UK was called in to advise, plan and project manage the removal and full replacement of the building’s four passenger lifts. Kone was selected as the preferred lift contractor with delivery of this challenging task exceeding client expectations.
Senior Building Surveyor at Bruntwood SciTech, Ben Parkes said: “We have a number of lifts within the Leeds portfolio, including West Village Leeds. Part of the building’s ongoing refurbishment included four brand new lifts that LECS UK advised us on from start to finish.”
The result – a very efficient lift system
Parkes said: “With increasing occupation of building the lifts needed to be really efficient, and this project achieved exactly that. In addition, a beautiful finish to match the aesthetic of the rest of the office space was also achieved.”
John Bentley, of LECS UK, who led this project, said: “Apart from the technical challenge of replacing the lifts and increasing the lifting capacity, our client wanted car interiors with a ‘wow’ factor. The architect, Cathy Mocke, designed one of the best car interiors we have ever installed, the results are superb and reflect the overall quality of the project way beyond the lifts.”

This marks another example of a successful project between LECS UK and Bruntwood SciTech. LECS UK is looking forward to working with Bruntwood SciTech on the next phase with another four lifts within the building.
