We work on a range of projects of varying complexity and size. On some projects LECS UK acts on behalf of the client looking to undertake straightforward small or medium sized projects. On other larger and more complex projects we work alongside architects, planning consultants, engineers and other specialists as needed to meet the requirements of the project. All our clients will testify that securing our expertise as early as possible in the design phase is a smart move – that saves times and budget in the long run.
LECS UK is the lift and escalator independent consultants of choice for key operators, developers and architects in the UK and internationally. These include the UK Department of Transport, Transport for London, PWC, estate owners and managers, facility managers, NHS Trusts, as well as working directly with a range of luxury brand retailers, theatres, commercial premises and data centres.
Our Approach
All projects or instructions are directly overseen by one of our leading lift and escalator engineer consultants, who takes responsibility for being your main point of contact and who has a hands on approach to seeing through the works.
Added Value
The added value provided by our independent engineering consultants at the design and planning stage of projects, whether new build or modernisation, is undisputed. LECS UK’s consultants contribute to project efficiency, safety, aesthetics and of course, longer-term budget savings.
Assisting with design and new construction issues includes feasibility studies and traffic analysis, evaluation of building and equipment quality and condition. This then moves to a comprehensive specification, tender and bid process management, followed by overseeing installation, monitoring progress and final inspection. The entire project is managed through to commissioning stage.
Ongoing management post-installation can also be provided to ensure all maintenance, documentation and regulation requirements, continue to be met.
LECS UK will ensure from the outset that you are walked through the various key stages of the project from design to tendering to construction, right through to handover, commissioning and post-occupation management.

Concept Design
Understand flow of people, materials and goods. Identify capacity and locations of units.
Design Development
This involves numbers, speeds and sizes of lifts/escalators as well as traffic analysis. We work with the design team and providing information to other disciplines including; spatial (architectural), electrical, structural, civil information required thereby allowing the design to progress smoothly.
Specifications & Tenders
We can devise and draft the most appropriate specification for your project to include the type of mechanical handling equipment required, surveys to determine suitability of equipment and accurately comparing competing tenders.
The contract can then be implemented by your chosen provider or we can assist with issuing to tender, tender analysis, contractor interviews – provide full project management consultation.Working with other members of the design team to ensure the lift works meet the design intent and specified requirements.

We oversee, monitor, check and report progress on site, trouble-shooting if required
Acceptance Inspections & Commissioning
Once the work is complete we undertake acceptance inspections checking the equipment functions as specified, is installed correctly and all necessary documentation and certificates are in place.

Running a funicular railway that is almost a hundred years old requires a lot of expertise and patience. Throw in a beachside location and a lot of salt in the air and the maintenance becomes all consuming. For almost 15 years we have been able to call on David Cooper and his team at LECS UK to assist us and also to carry out our inspections. It is fair to say that without their professionalism, attention to detail and go the extra mile attitude, the railway would have closed along with so many other parts of our national heritage. LECS UK has enabled an amateur charitable group to take over an inclined cable railway and run it with confidence and profitability, something for which we are very grateful.
