Dave Bishop's career in engineering started in 1966. He served a five year construction engineering apprenticeship with Marryat & Scott Lifts during which time he spent a year in the Electrical Design drawing office. On completing his apprenticeship in 1971 he started work as a construction engineer.
In 1973 he was promoted to trainee test engineer and completed training in one year before commencing work as a new installation test engineer. During this time he tested many types of installation - Hydraulic and Traction - in the UK as well as Jersey, Guernsey and the Republic of Ireland.
Following this Dave moved to Marryat & Scott’s international department, where he tested high rise, multi car groups in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Morocco and Egypt. In 1984 he started working as an independent construction test engineer, completing projects for a number of major multi-national lift companies. Ten years later he joined Capital Lifts as a construction director.
Dave left Capital Lifts in 1999 to start Acre Lifts Ltd with a business partner. As MD of Acre Lifts the company grew year on year reaching £9m turnover and 90+ employees. Acre Lifts boasted many prestigious clients including 10 Downing St, The Foreign Office. The Home Office, Linklaters and many London Borough councils.
In 2014 Acre Lifts was sold to a multi-national and Dave enjoyed a four year sabbatical and travelled extensively.
